About Solanim Ensemble

Solanim Ensemble Berlin is an ambitious and growing project to create a new professional Ensemble to perform concerts in Berlin. The Ensemble includes an Organ, Strings & Choir and the main concerts venues will be Berlin / Dresden / Leipzig Churches.

Main Repertoire is Gabriel Fauré – Requiem, Choral & Orchestra arrangements of works by Schubert & Mendelssohn. Future plans include extending the orchestra by adding winds, brass and timpani to perform Mozart Requiem.

Solanim Ensemble was founded by Liran Mendel and Roni Porat who serves as the music director of the ensemble. The Ensemble members include talented musicians from music students to senior musicians.

Instrumentalists (violin / viola / cello / organ) and Vocalists are welcome to apply for our open vacancies (per service). You are welcome to send your video audition following our suggestions or using your own choice of repertoire.

Roni Porat, Music Director

Roni Porat, Music Director

Roni Porat was born in Israel in 1958. For 12 years (1992 - 2004), Roni Porat has acted as Musical Director, Principal Conductor and Resident Composer with the Israel Stage Orchestra which he also founded.

Roni Porat has created, conducted and presented more than 2000 concerts. He has composed original works for orchestras as well as for theatre and dance companies. He has conducted all Israeli leading orchestras including The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra on a regular basis. Worldwide Roni Porat has conducted several orchestras like the National orchestras of Guatemala, Equator and El Salvador, the Leipzig Philharmonic orchestra, a few youth and “El Sistema” orchestras in Cadada, Latin America and Europe.

He has written scripts, collaborated with numerous artists and has brought music into the hearts of some 750,000 people, young and old. Mr. Porat continues working with the musicians who have accompanied him on his musical voyage, devoting his time to music education, to young people and to a never-ending search for excellence and new vehicles of expression.

In addition to his extensive musical work, Roni Porat is active as a lecturer and trainer on the subject of leadership, conducting and running workshops on personal and business development. Porat cooperates with private sector organizations and managers. Roni Porat has created and maintains the leadership workshop "Conducting Success" that allows managers to go through transformation and personal growth, giving them a real life experience of conducting a chamber ensemble. Another workshop Roni has created, titled "Master Class", brings insights from the music world into one's own life and vice versa.

Roni Porat is a popular TEDx speaker and gave diverse talks - dedicated to the connection of the humans mind to music and conducting - in Berlin, Hungary and Israel.

Liran Mendel, Artistic Director

Liran Mendel, born in Israel in 1970, is an Israeli organist, conductor and entrepreneur. He has studied composition and conducting at the Rubin Academy of Music in Jerusalem.

Mr. Mendel has made several arrangements and transcriptions of large symphonic works for organ, chamber and vocal ensembles.

As an entrepreneur, Mr. Mendel organized special classical music tours for musicians around Europe leading opera houses and concert halls (Vienna, London, Munich, Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden).
